Crossrider

A vast number of companies are affiliated with ad injectors, either packaging their tools or funnelling ads down to them. One of the biggest is Crossrider, the majority stake of which is held by billionaire Teddy Sagi, a serial entrepreneur and ex-con who was jailed for insider trading in the 1990s. His biggest money maker to date is gambling software developer Playtech. Co-founder and CEO Koby Menachemi was part of Unit 8200, where he was a developer for three years.

According to the Google report, Crossrider was doing plenty of work with Superfish whilst it was still swimming, amongst many others, using various kinds of ad injection techniques. It allows app developers to build those injection capabilities into their software, using the Crossrider platform, but it seems bad actors have used this for their own means. US antivirus giant Symantec ranks one service based on Crossrider’s software, Crossid, as adware with a “high” risk impact. It warns Crossid can inject content and collect information about the user, such as IP address, operating system and browser information.

Exposing former spies, it seems, can prove troublesome.

Crossrider changed its name to Kape Technologies PLC in 2018, in CEO Ido Erlichman's words, to escape the "strong association to the past activities of the company."

The name change supposedly accompanied a full turnaround for Kape, as it said it was exiting malicious adware and moving into cybersecurity. However, in the same year, Kape still operated the infamous scareware Reimage -- a potentially unwanted program that positions itself as a computer performance enhancer but which has been known to signal false positives on security threats in order to persuade you to pay for its premium service.

If you're an ExpressVPN customer, you shouldn't be.

Ido Erlichman helped Kape Technologies, Israeli entrepreneur Sagi’s former flop, to increase its value 20-fold, reaching a $1.2 billion valuation.

We’re the largest technology company on the AIM today, and after we complete the acquisition of Express, we’ll either raise more funds on the Nasdaq or will transition to the London Stock Exchange’s main market.

AIM has served us well, and assisted in transitioning from the growth stage toward reaching a main stock market listing. We’ve always been referred to as sort of a test case: we completed an IPO, entered a whirlwind, underwent a 180-degree change while remaining public, and have transformed our investor base from disappointed to exuberant.

If you’re a Private Internet Access VPN (@buyvpnservice) customer, you shouldn’t be. It is dead.

If you use any other @Kape_com products, you should reconsider.

KAPE PLC would rather reshuffle their executives than provide a simple receipt that I’ve asked for.

More to come...

Hello dodos @Kape_com.

Wake up or you'll lose everything.

Kape Technologies PLC may soon depart from London's AIM after suitor Unikmind Holdings Ltd said it has secured enough support to push through a delisting.

On Thursday Kape received a final cash takeover offer from Unikmind. The new bid valued Kape at USD1.54 billion, up from a previous offer which put a USD1.47 billion valuation on the company.

Kape, despite having reservations about the size of the offer, earlier on Friday warned on the rights of its minority shareholders should Unikmind win enough support to power through a delisting.

Are you okay, Annie?
